Bottom line…excellent!

Lots to like about this work… One that I’ve never come across b4: hotlinks connected directly to the official song at the exact chord-progression point to hear the concept being discussed in that paragraph, and then, hit the back button to jump right back into the book without being distracted. Nice goin’Jake! 👍👏👊 💪😎🎸

Best Explanation of Music Theory

It's the 3rd course I'm taking on the topic of music theory and chord progressions. I also watched many YouTube videos before. The previous courses allowed me to start producing music, but I still felt like doing it blindly. This course is exactly what I've been looking for. No rushing through the topic, everything is comprehensively explained. Definitely exceeded my expectations

Very deep and helpful.

The content is awesome. Jake made some very good stuff here. Regardless of your instrument you play, it's not only for guitar of course, you can learn a lot here and deepen your understanding for chords. I am currently at chapter 4. But so far ,and I think the rest will be too, it's good learning material. 🙂

My eyes have been opened

This course helped me see whats REALLY going on while playing and writing music. Many "AH HAA!" moments that made things finally click. Its like being mute your whole life, and then finally learning to speak! I have all this music in my head, but didnt have a way to BRING IT OUT, until now . This course solves that. Very liberating. Thanks JAKE!

Lots of concepts.

Very detailed. Explains thing in a very easily understood way. Only 1/3 of the way through and I've learned a lot of details that I never knew. Many different concepts on how to change run of the mill chord progressions into something much more interesting. I've already wrote out a few chord progressions in different keys, modes etc. Big improvements in little time.

Super Useful + Practical

For me, the best part of Jake's teachings, this book included, is the practicality of it. While quite detailed, he doesn't bog down in minutiae; rather he focuses on what is most important about a given topic in order to create music.

Music Theory and Songwriting Course FAQs

Probably! Only about 15% of this course is dedicated to the guitar, while the remaining concepts are taught in a way that can easily be applied to any other instrument. However, since all the theory taught is viewed through the lens of the guitar, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you own a guitar before pursuing this course to finish.
This is not a course on guitar playing or technique, but on theory and songwriting. The only skills you are expected to know is how to read guitar tablature, and the absolute basics of guitar playing (how to fret a note, open chords, etc)
I can confidently say that this method of learning will be more effective and valuable for many types of students. Since there is no wasted time or filler, it is more time-efficient than real life lessons where the teacher or student can get distracted. The printable materials are of a higher quality than most private lessons. And the ability to replay a lesson over and over is invaluable for students struggling to understand difficult topics.
Not quite- my YouTube channel explores more advanced topics without explaining the prerequisites. 95% of the content in this course is totally unique and unexplored on my channel, and is taught in a linear fashion as to make sure you’re totally competent by the end. There are only two lessons that include cross over with my YouTube channel. However, after some lessons, Design and Develop by Inbox Technologyyou are directed to specific YouTube videos I’ve produced to help expand on your understanding of the previous topics and to help weave my channel in with the course.
Nope! Once purchased you’ll have access for life, including any additional lessons or worksheets that get added in over time.
Currently, no. But I am working on getting a physical version of the course made instead of digital-only. Stay tuned!
