I spent every day over the last two weeks writing, recording, and producing this. An instrumental progressive rock track featuring drums by Jeff Schwertfeger and synths/keys by Mike Muggli. I will do a few videos on the details of this song, as there is a lot to analyze. At it’s base though, it revolves around mostly D Major but often borrows from D Minor. It is written like a pop song- Intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-end.
The melodies are consistent through the 1st and second chorus and the last chorus, I solo with variations on it as the theme plays in orchestral arrangement.
The verse sections are free canvases to solo on top of. The chord progression contains a chromatic descent in the bass, leading to some modal mixture and Plini-inspired slide licks.
The bridge is in 7/4 but the keys and guitars are playing polymetricly, in 3/8 and 5/8 respectively.
It is about a group of individuals finding a new planet for their species after several hundred years of drifting through space in a giant space-colony because their home planet was gonna get roasted and they had to evacuate.
