Every sunday, /r/guitar has been holding little challenges. This week it was to record a one take improvised guitar solo over a backing track in the Jimi Hendrix style. I was really reluctant to post a first-take but I went ahead and did it anyways, so this includes all sorts of mistakes and stumbles.

There's also a new lesson posted today about economy picking on the electric guitar. What is economy picking and how do you use it? It's a fairly simple concept that requires a lot of practice, but allows you to ascend and descend through scales faster, and also gives you speedy options in playing various guitar licks and passages.
